Holidaymakers can do their bit to help keep the British coastlines and oceans clean by joining this year’s Million Mile Beach Clean. Away Resorts has teamed up with Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) to support their 2022 environmental campaign Million Mile Beach Clean - designed to keep our beaches clean and more importantly, to protect our oceans and wildlife.

They’re inviting guests to join in with beach cleans and litter picks during their stay using the clean-up kits available at all parks for guests, plus details about how they can register their beach clean to help achieve the Million Mile target. As well as organised and community events, Away Resorts – which owns and manages holiday parks in some of the UK’s most popular seaside spots - will be encouraging individuals who want to make a difference too.

The independent holiday park operator is enjoying a long-term relationship with SAS - supporting them in their ongoing work to maintain water safety and quality around the UK coast.

According to their most recent research, last year saw record amounts of sewage being discharged into UK water courses - up 87% on the 12 months before. They’re calling on the government and water industry to take urgent action to improve infrastructure and limit sewage pollution.

Speaking about the campaign, Away Resorts’ CEO, Carl Castledine, said: “We are all so proud of our Great British beaches and for most of us, they’re the ideal place to enjoy an amazing staycation.

“Keeping the sand and water clean must be a priority and we are keen to do everything we can to help our guests join in some of the fun events running this year.”
