Holiday makers are being encouraged to enjoy a slower pace this springtime, as UK staycations operator Away Resorts encourages guests to forget the rush of day-to-day life and move at their own pace for an unforgettable holiday.

This comes as there has been a dramatic rise in the slow travel trend, which involves taking the time to truly get to know a destination. Rather than busy, rushed holidays built around sightseeing, slow travel is about enjoying a deeper connection with a place, its people and culture.

This more immersive approach to travel is often more sustainable too; and leads towards more authentic experiences.

2023 has already been touted as the year of slow travel by many tourism experts, who note the burgeoning desire among holidaymakers to get out and explore following the restrictions of the Covid pandemic. The launch event for Globetrender’s 2023 Travel Trend Forecast referred to the rise of “slower, more immersive travel” as a trend to watch out for this year.

As the slow travel trend continues to rise, guests at Away Resorts are urged to forget about cramming as many things as possible into a trip in favour of enjoying the precious moments  together – all while enjoying exceptional comfort, unbeatable scenery and spontaneous adventures on offer at Away Resorts Parks.

Away Resorts have resorts located in some of the UK’s most beautiful destinations – from Tattershall Lakes in Lincolnshire to Retallack in Cornwall – and the operator is already drawing in British slow travel enthusiasts who want to experience their home country in a completely new way. Away Resorts saw year-on-year bookings climb by 30% in 2022, and bookings for 2023 are already on course to exceed last year.

The staycation specialist has also become a leader in sustainability, adding to its slow travel appeal. Across its parks, Away Resorts supports local conservation efforts to protect the UK’s fantastic countryside and coastline, as well as helping its guests to get involved and connect with nature at a deeper level.

Last year, Away Resorts accelerated its investments in conservation, including a partnership with marine charity Surfers Against Sewage, and a new business mission that saw Away Resorts receive the coveted title of Plastic Free Business Champion.

Carl Castledine, CEO of Away Resorts, said: “Slow travel is a trend that has really taken off in 2023, as holidaymakers seek new experiences outside of the usual tourist traps. Our parks have always been places of discovery and connection with friends and family, and with our new brand platform – ‘Get away to it all’ – we’re going further to show that we are truly the home of slow travel in the UK.”

Carl continued: “We’re looking forward to welcoming slow travel holidaymakers to our parks this year, helping them to connect with our beautiful destinations and enjoy wonderful, unique experiences.”

Away Resorts, which has 21 UK locations, is responding to the slow travel boom with a new strategic approach built around the tagline: ‘Get away to it all’.

The slogan marks a new brand platform for Away Resorts, which positions its holidays as a chance to connect with friends and family through amazing experiences – rather than just an escape from everyday life.
